Bookish Family,
As you can see, with five events on the schedule,
we're easing our way into Spring and Summer.
We've got lots in the pipeline so this is a much needed and appreciated
"slow down" in anticipation for a fun and festive ramp up!
Our first bookselling event with author, songwriter and professor Alice Randall,
couldn't have come at a more strategic time. With the recent release of
"Cowboy Carter" on March 29, 2024, america has been invited into a much needed conversation about the history of Black country music.
And frankly, it's about time.
Enough with the systematized erasure of Black people in any
form or iteration of american culture. It's false and tired.
I hope you join us at the event; it's free and at the GORGEOUS
Grand Army Plaza Brooklyn Public Library.
Please check out our upcoming events.
We hope to see you at one pretty soon.
Self-Care Tip: Make it a point to laugh with abandon!
I recently reconnected with my younger yet older in spirit Prima who I actually consider
my older and best Hermana. During our time apart, the thing I missed most about us was the way we laughed and ping-pong rapped the entire "Ready to Die" album. Get at us! Lol!
Recently, we've spent hours on the phone literally laughing at life, the absurdity that is dating in our 40s and nyc foolery. It's been the best!
And, I recommend it. LAUGH, Bookish Fam.
Find that person who you can be silly with and laugh until you cry!
always,
-kqd.
