About the Event
It is a monthly meeting for female-identified latinx and/or Spanish speakers immigrants, wherein the
course of 2 hours they can disconnect from their daily activities and do embroider quotes, sayings or
proverbs that break with certain patterns of oppression especially generated from our culture.
We will review Hispanic female writers for inspiration, as well as translating self-care and self-advocate
quotes from English resources.
Come for two hours to: - disconnect from your phone, - create around a women-only environment, - looking up phrases, saying or proverbs of our Hispanic heritage, - practice craftivism, - leave the space with your own creation.
Tickets ($25) available at Eventbrite.
About the Racilitator: Montserrat Vargas is a craftivist and educator. She has been leading craftivist workshops to empower
immigrant women with New Women New Yorkers, NAC, and at Punto Space. As an Associate Director for the Arts, Montse
created meaningful theme-oriented showcases and curriculum-based activities for a Gifted and Special Ed school for four years.
Montserrat has found in the practice of craftivism, the alignment to fight for a cause, work meaningfully and don’t let her
introvertive side in the shadows. She truly enjoys to build community and stitching quietly with a cup of tea.
